A place called Mahahual (which means, no water for the witch) is a traditional fishing village with few rustic sea food restaurants and some souvenir shops. Also there is a cruise ship dock now bringing 100's of tourists daily to this new destination.
Hwy 307 is the major road that runs the entire stretch of coastline from Cancun south to The Costa Maya and Mahahual.
The access roads are excellent and link to the other villages in between, called Rio Indio, el Uvero Punta Pulticub and Rio Huach.
The Costa Maya highway stretches all the way north to Punta Herrero a fishing village on the shores of Espiritu Santo Bay in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere reserve. Mahahual's perfect palm lined beaches are a real attraction and the waters were made for sunning, bathing and snorkeling
